Green Drakes are going off in the later part of the afternoon. The bigger rainbows are keyed on them. This hatch restores your faith that there are actually fish in this river. If you want to catch a big Dolly, use nymphs down low or if all else fails, chuck a big white streamer pattern at them. Davis Lake - July 2nd, 2003 |
FISHING: Fair
maps
Davis Lake is looking very low right now. Please be careful not to stress the fish to much. Float tubes and Pontoons are the ticket, but can just as easily wet wade. Calebaetis hatch is happening from 11:00-3:00. Fish are leary, but willing. If nothing is going on trout, put a bass bug on and hit the weeds to the east of the lava flow. I saw a guy yank a 6 pounder out of there last week. Flies to use: Dries: Callibaetis Duns, Callibaetis Spinners Emergers: Callibaetis Emerger and cripples. Nymphs: Callibaetis Nymphs, Chironomids. Streamers: Green, Brown and Black. Call the shop and ask for T.R. or Kevin to get the most up to date info on gear and bugs! 1(866) 393-7687.
